Online we’ll talk about something they’ve brought up about their day, games, anime, occasionally books, or just general stuff that’s happening. Usually we’ll watch YouTube videos or films and just talk about those.
irl I try ask them about stuff in their life, things they’re interested in, school, summer, really just trivial stuff. They’re usually talking about people they know and stuff that happened to them which makes it impossible to talk to them because I don’t know these people. All my conversations irl feel forced or fake but I don’t know why.
People will just ignore me if I stay quiet. I try to talk to them about anything or seem more active of a person than someone who just sits there quietly. I’ve noticed I’m a lot more passive than a lot of people who are far more active in everything they do but I cannot bring myself to be like that for some reason.
I’m interested currently in classical literature, an area nobody else cares about, as well as film, anime, theatre, stuff like that. Nothing anyone irl cares about. The girls talk about people they know or stuff that happened to them. The guys will talk about the same or about whatever is happening at the moment, seemingly turning literally anything into something to talk or joke about. Some talk about their hobbies which are mostly sports but sometimes include music or gym. Nobody here has similar interests as me or cares about my interests.
I’ll usually make as long a reply as possible while not going on forever. This doesn’t mean I’ll talk for 5 minutes but for a god 20-30 seconds sometimes about something if I can. This is universally met with short 1 or 2 sentence replies so I try to ask them questions about themselves or things they’ve mentioned only to get a short reply and usually they’ll leave to go to their friends or something.
